Whose Face Do You See?

Next week we are going to read a story called Whose Face Do You See? by Melvin Burgess.
  1. Before reading the story, work in pairs to discuss what you think the story will be about. Post your ideas in your blog.
  2. Once you have done that, open a Word Document and give it a name, for example, a combination of the story and your initials. If you are doing this activity in the computer lab at school, save the document in the 9th grade English 2006 folder.
  3. Now click on the following link Whose Face Do You See? Pre- Reading, Characterization.
  4. Working with your partner, read the four activities in this worksheet and answer them in your Word document.
  5. If there are any words you don't understand, remember you can use the Cambridge Online Dictionary to look up these words.
  6. Check spelling, grammar and punctuation. Save the document.
  7. You can email the document from your own account to your home address so that you can later work on the same document at home if necessary.
  8. When you finish the task, copy it and post it in your blog.
  9. In a week's time you will have to read your classmates posts and comment on their ideas. Say whether you agree or disagree with their answers to the questions in the worksheet and help with spelling, grammar or punctuation if you find any mistakes.
  10. Get ready to read the story ...
